Governor General’s Foot Guards 150th Anniversary Logo Design Contest!

Your Regiment turns 150 on 7 June 2022, and planning for the celebrations has already been underway for over a year. This is a big one, and the plans to commemorate it are ambitious! In order to represent this momentous milestone, we need a novel and memorable logo to appear on all materials and at all events marking the anniversary over the next four years. It’s time to apply the creative and artistic talent of our Regimental Family to this mission!

The GGFG 150th Anniversary Logo Design Contest is now open until 21 October 2018.

The winner will receive a prize of $200.

Here are the rules:

  • Logo designs must reflect the identity of the Regiment and the 150th Anniversary.

  • The design must be scalable. The logo must be clear and identifiable (and look good!) from sizes as small as a lapel pin or postage stamp to as large as a banner on the front of Cartier Square Drill Hall or painted on the side of a bus.

  • The contest is open to all members of the Regimental Family. This includes, all serving members, past serving members, and their families, as well as members of the GGFG Cadet Corps. There is no age restriction for entrants to the contest.

  • There is no limit to the number of submissions per person.

Submissions are due no later

than 21 October 2018.

Entries must include:

  • A graphic logo design.

  • The name and rank of the entrant, along with dates served in the regiment. Entries from regimental family members must contain the name of the entrant, along with the name, rank and service dates of the serving or past-serving member to whom they are related.

  • All entrants must provide their contact information including a phone number and e-mail address.

  • Entries may include a single brief paragraph description of the logo, if the entrant feels one is necessary.

  • Submissions must be in electronic format via e-mail to GGFGLogo@GMail.com.

  • The logo artwork (graphic design) must be in high definition PNG or GIF format with a transparent background.

  • The winner will be expected to provide the working file (e.g. Adobe Illustrator file).

  • Entrant information must not appear in the graphic image file, but may be included in the file name. It (and logo description if necessary) must be included in the submitted e-mail or an attached document file.

If you require help getting your logo into electronic format, or have any questions about the contest, please address them via e-mail to GGFGLogo@GMail.com. LCol (Ret’d) Nicholas Curcumelli-Rodostamo (Nick “C.R.”) is coordinating the contest and will get back to you as soon as possible.

The winning entry will be selected by the GGFG 150th Anniversary Regimental Council. The winning logo will be unveiled and the winner announced at the Junior Ranks Holiday and Christmas Dinner on 7 December 2018.

Good luck and get creative! Canada’s Regiment needs a great looking logo for its birthday!
